Fashion Friday: The Jumpsuit

One of the easiest transitional pieces to take you from one season to the next is the jumpsuit. Yes, a jumpsuit can be the worst in a bathroom situation, but the positives outweigh that one inconvenience. One of my favorites so far this season is this MINKPINK polka dot jumpsuit from REVOLVE Clothing. See the different ways I style it on Monday, but until then shop some of these one piece wonders below and get ready for Spring. Fashion Friday: Bomber Jackets

Bomber jackets have made their way into many collections over the past few seasons so it was time to give them a little Fashion Friday love. A bomber jacket gives a nod to sportswear, but now that they come in a variety of fabrics, this is not a jacket relegated to only your denim or athleisure favorites. With sequin, quilted and embroidered versions, this is a jacket you can wear like you would most cropped or waist-length jackets. Give it a try this season. How To Wear It: Winter Weather Essentials

We're finally able to dig ourselves out from the snow in Nashville, and the weather is predicted to be in the 50's by the end of the week, but we all know winter is far from over. Friday's Fashion Friday featured puffer coats like Athleta's Down With It Jacket. Today's puffer coats are slimmer and warmer than the ones I remember. I love this coat from Athleta because it has a hood and bonus...it's on sale! Here are some other cold weather essentials to keep you warm this winter. Fashion Friday: The Puffer Coat

Happy Friday from the snowy tundra of Nashville! The snow is still falling and hopefully you're enjoying a snow day. I had something different in mind for today's Fashion Friday, but it seemed more appropriate to focus on a staple of the winter season, and something we can all use today, the puffer coat.

Processed with VSCOcam with s2 presetThe view outside my door this morning.

I remember these coats from when I was a kid in northeast Ohio in the '70s and '80s. Puffer coats were winter staples, but let's face it, we all looked like the Michelin Man. I remember how hard it was to put your arms down in these jackets because by the time you put your four layers on and then your coat, there was so much bulk you couldn't move.

Today's puffer jackets are high tech and super slim. Many use a down alternative, which I love because I was always allergic to down and it's nicer to the animals. They're also just as warm, if not warmer, as the original version and you don't need to wear as many layers. With today's "athleisure" trend still on the rise, they've also become pretty fashionable. Carbon38 carries a peplum puffer!

Here are some of my favorite puffer jackets to keep you warm, cozy and stylish this winter. Check back Monday for the puffer How To Wear It featuring more cold weather essentials.

Stay warm out there!

Holiday Party Dresses

I promise I have holiday standards. I let Halloween and Thanksgiving have their due before breaking out the Christmas tree. When it comes to prepping for all of those holiday parties however, there's nothing wrong with getting a little head start. I'm sequin, leather and velvet obsessed, so the minute a chill hits the air, I'm breaking out my first sequins of the season. I'm also having a party dress moment and I've seen so many fun dresses that I'm ready to hit the party circuit. This black and white stripe fit and flare dress might just be my very favorite. I'm usually one who likes to pile on the accessories, but this dress makes a statement on its own. I wanted to keep it simple so I opted for a bib necklace and the most kitschy Kate Spade champagne bottle clutch.

How To Wear It: Summer Jumpsuits

I have an obsession with jumpsuits, but you probably already know that. I talk about it a lot. I've seen some really great ones this summer, including this navy number from Vince. They're a great alternative to a dress and when paired with heels, they look oh so chic. This particular Vince jumpsuit caught my eye because it's perfect for summer. I have a similar one from Banana Republic and it has been my go-to piece all season. I wear it to work with a kimono and then shed the kimono and add a killer pair of heels for dinner out that night. Drawstrings and back pockets are key. They help define your waist and your back side so you don't look like you're wearing a sack. And since I also love dressy track pants, I love that this Vince jumpsuit has banded ankles. I'm not particular though. I also love when they have a wider leg. The Vince jumpsuit pictured here is from Shopbop, but as your shopping the last few days of the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale you'll find some great jumpsuit options. All of the other items pictured here are part of the Anniversary Sale. Hover over the collage and click the "+" to see more information about each item. I hope you've been finding some amazing deals. Prices go back up on Monday, August 3.

How to Wear It: Bold Florals

These aren't your typical girly-girl Laura Ashley florals. These florals are as big and bold with their color as they are with their design. They're edgy and fun and make anything in your closet instantly more modern. The floral print on this Anthropologie skirt is large enough that it's almost more of an abstract print than a floral. I chose to pair this high waisted maxi with a crop top, but a tucked in tank top or sleeveless blouse would look just as great. I kept everything neutral here to let the maxi skirt be the focal point. Have some fun with accessories and make sure to add a bold bright lip and nail lacquer to finish off your look. How To Wear It: New Year's Eve Sparkle and Shine

New Year's Eve is just a few days away and that means it's time to break out your blingy-est attire. I love sequins to the point that I probably have an unhealthy obsession with them. It's the holidays and if I want to wear sequin pants or the most obnoxious red sequin jacket you've probably ever seen, I'm doing it. There are so many gorgeous beaded and sequin dresses and jumpsuits, it's easy to glam it up this year. Go for it on New Year's Eve. Here are some ideas to get you started. Hover over the item in the collage to get more information or click through in the shop widget below. Many of the items included here are on sale making them under $100! Happy New Year!

How To Wear It: Steeplechase Style

If you live in Nashville, chances are you're figuring out what to wear to Iroquios Steeplechase this Saturday. It can be a long day out in the sun and your attire for the day really depends on whether you're tailgating in the infield or sipping mimosas in the Hunt Club. For this week's How To Wear It, I chose a floral dress from Joie and styled it two ways. One for the infield and one if you're headed to your box seats. Of course you should pack your rain boots, and a jacket. We all know the weather can take a turn at the drop of a fancy Steeplechase hat.

How To Wear It: Wilt Tank Dress

I'm ready for the warm weather to get here for good so I can finally wear my new Wilt paneled tank dress. I will live in this dress this summer and thanks to Soca Clothing for gifting it to me after I hosted the Chaser 'Tee' Party during Nashville Fashion Week. I love tank dresses like this, because they're fun to layer on the jewelry and they're perfect for those sweltering summer days. I'm having a turquoise jewelry moment, so you'll probably start seeing a lot of it in my style sets this spring/summer.

How To Wear It: Cropped Overalls

I'm having an overalls moment. I remember being a kid shopping with my mom and my aunts to find the perfect pair of OshKosh B'Gosh bib overalls for my cousins. Fast forward some years and here we are. The overall is now the more practical version of its chic jumpsuit cousin. Just because overalls may look casual, doesn't mean you need to style them that way. I'm on the search for the perfect pair to get me through festival season this year. This navy crop ankle pair from Goodnight Macaroon may be just what I need.
