So much great music has come out recently, I had to get back to publishing a monthly playlist. I didn't intend to make a February playlist full of love songs, but a few made their way on here. They just happen to be the songs I can't stop listening to this month. In putting this playlist together, I realized how much the music I'm listening to now sounds a lot like the music I listened to in the early and mid-90s. And I'm totally fine with that. I love that sometimes Courtney Barnett reminds me of Liz Phair back in her F*ck & Run days. Hellogoodbye, Nashville's Wild Cub and Cherub remind me of the synthpop and electronic bands I adored when I was in high school and college. I finally found MS MR's cover of LCD Soundsystem's "Dance Yourself Clean," which I first heard at Lollapalooza last year. (That has been on repeat.) And I couldn't end this playlist without including something quiet and lovely from Volcano Choir. Justin Vernon's (Bon Iver) voice always stops me in my tracks. It's a haunting and beautiful record and "Comrade" is one of my favorites tracks. With the warm weather heading our way this week, open the windows, turn this up and enjoy.
